In early 2015, Qnit didn’t exist—at least, not in the form it is today. Instead, there was a small but highly dedicated Quality Assurance (QA) team working within PRODYNA. This group of experts was focused on ensuring software quality, so much so that they developed their own in-house test automation tool, Nabucco, tailored to meet their unique needs.
Why the Change?
By establishing Qnit as an independent company, both parties could focus on their strengths:
- PRODYNA could double down on its core expertise—software development.
- Qnit could emerge as a specialized provider of quality assurance services, with the flexibility and focus needed to become an industry leader in software testing.
This shift wasn’t just about business focus; it was about delivering excellence. As an independent entity, we were able to build a team of QA specialists, who could devote their full attention to developing and implementing industry-leading testing solutions. It was a win-win scenario for both companies and their clients.
Shifting Focus: The Decision to Retire Nabucco
One of the key turning points during our formation was the decision to retire Nabucco, the custom-built test automation tool. While Nabucco had served the team well, the market for test automation tools was rapidly growing, with major players like Ranorex, Tosca, QF-Test, and Selenium setting the pace. Competing with companies that focused solely on tool development wasn’t a priority.
Instead, we shifted our focus toward what we could do best:
- Empowering people with cutting-edge education on both open-source and enterprise-level test automation tools.
- Advancing test management processes, helping clients streamline testing strategies, and manage their testing lifecycle efficiently.
- Creating best practices for Quality Assurance, Test Automation, Test Management, and Test Strategy, ensuring that clients stay ahead of the curve.
- Offering consulting services that provided clients with independent advice on optimizing quality assurance. We help organizations find the perfect balance between cost, time-to-market, and risk management.
